Call to Worship: From Psalm 27

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

One thing I asked of the Lord, that I will seek after: to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.

For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent: he will set me high on a rock.

Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud, be gracious to me and answer me!

”Come,” my heart says, “seek his face!” Your face, Lord, do I seek.
*Hymn 275 – A Mighty Fortress Is Our God

Prayer of Confession

Holy God, you have gathered us together to your Kingdom to serve you as disciples, but we have erred and gone astray from our calling. We ask that you would gather us once more, restoring us to glory in your kingdom and equipping us to serve you and one another.

Lord, have mercy on us. Receive our honest repentance and restore us for your sake, that we might be part of your faithful Church. We ask for your blessings and your kindness, recognizing your goodness and your love.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers… (Silent prayers)

Assurance of Pardon

We have been given the gift of grace abundantly in order that we might be faithful disciples of the call we answer together. Let us glorify God with our words and actions, being restored by the Holy Spirit.

Thanks be to God. Amen.

*All who are able, please stand.

O God, show us clearly the heart of your kingdom.
We do not protest
even if our life is destined to lead to the cross,
or if the way leads to our losing our lives.
We will march in the face of distress and contrary winds.
Teach us how to dispense with unnecessary things.
Let us go forward without fear of death
in order to fulfill our mission simply, surely, and steadily.
Reveal to us our station clearly,
and strengthen us to teach and guide, by our example, all persons,
even those who are ruled by evil.
We pray that you may find us worthy to work through us. Amen.
