We are continuing to collect non-perishable food items for the Feeding My Sheep food pantry; they especially need soup and vegetables.
Christmas decorations in the fellowship hall have been taken down (some winter season decorations are still up); decorations in the sanctuary need to be taken down. The Sunday morning worship service will be in the fellowship hall through the winter and most of the season of Lent (Easter is April 12). During that time our focus on local mission will be the Feeding My Sheep food pantry. While they welcome any non-perishable food, canned vegetables and soup is especially needed. A table has been set up to collect donations in the fellowship hall.

Wednesday, December 11 at 11 am – Finger foods lunch, ornament exchange and assembly of gift bags (bring 10 small items that day or leave them in the Ladies Parlor/Library off the Fellowship Hall ahead of time) and appreciation baskets for church staff – ALL women are invited! Afterward, Dickie and Doris Lee Stiltner have invited us to their home to see their tree and decorations.

Our Focus on Giving for January is cans of vegetables and soup for the Feeding My Sheep Food Pantry.
The PW is concerned about our environment. We are taking steps to do the following: cut down on the use of styrofoam by not using it anymore than necessary and by using the reusable grocery bags seen below. Let’s do our share to help!

The PW Focus on Giving for the month of October is for The Connection at Hurley. They need hygiene products for boys and girls (shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorant, etc) and socks for youth of all ages. Bring on Sunday morning or leave them in the Angel room any day.
***FOCUS ON GIVING:
October – The items most needed by The Connection at this time are: tooth paste, men’s deodorant, razors for both girls and boys, girl hair brushes and hair scrunchies They have shampoo but need conditioner.
November – The items most needed by the Shelter at this time are: feminine hygiene products, soap/body wash, shampoo and conditioner, socks, undies (gently used bras are welcome), and sleepwear.***************

Saturday, October 12: Fall Gathering for the Presbyterian Women of Abingdon Presbytery, 1-3 at Central Presbyterian Church in Bristol, VA. Penny Jennell, Janie Owens, and Jackie Helms plan to attend. If you’re interested in going with these ladies, let them know!
Sunday, October 13: Worship service at Vansant Presbyterian. Join our sister church for their Homecoming Celebration
Sunday, October 20: Quarterly Fellowship Dinner will follow the worship service. Bring your favorite fall food and eat with your church family! Hostesses are co-chairs: Penny Jennell and Terri Clark, Toni Stokes, Cindy Matney, Ethel Hale, Bobbie Hale, Barbara Wiley, Janice Groseclose, Francis Belcher, and Pauline Smith
Wednesday, November 2: 11:30 (following Bible Study) Our November PW Business meeting. Focus on Giving for November is for People Inc (Domestic Abuse Shelter). They need comfortable clothes (sweatshirts, T’s, knit pants, etc), hygiene products (shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, body wash, deodorant, etc) and feminine hygiene products.
Wednesday, December 6: 11:30 (following Bible Study) Our December PW Business meeting. Focus on Giving for December will be the bags for shut-ins. Wednesday, June 12:
We’ll meet for prayer and a short devotion at 10:30 then have a workday to set up for the Presbytery meeting. Bring a sandwich!
Thursday, June 13:
We’ll be hosting the Abingdon Presbytery. We’ll provide coffee, juice, and pastries for a morning snack during registration then a lunch at noon. If you’ve signed up to provide a main dish casserole or dessert, we need them in the church kitchen by 11 am please. If you haven’t signed up and plan to bring something, please let Cindy Matney or Connie Bausell know.

Our Courtyard Dedication
6:00PM – Dinner begins in the Fellowship Hall (hotdogs, chips and beverages provided, if you want to bring cookies or another finger dessert, please do so)
6:30PM – 7:30PM – Bluegrass music by Bluestone (Tom Foley’s band) in the courtyard
7:45PM – 9:00PM – Live music by Asher McGlothlin in the sanctuary
