Presbyterian Women 2018-2019

Highlights from Presbyterian Women Business Meeting, 01/02/2019 Christmas gift bags were filled and delivered. The women had a lovely brunch followed by stuffing the gift bags. We then divided into teams and enjoyed delivering and visiting with our recipients. This was a great blessing for all of us! Our Field Testing for the Horizons Bible Study was completed and all reports have been mailed to the main PC (USA) office in Louisville, Kentucky. A big thank you to all the ladies who faithfully participated in the study. This will be used in the Fall of 2020. We are grateful we were chosen for this project. A committee comprised of the co-chairmen of our four hostess committees will meet to discuss and, if necessary, revise the guidelines for the groups. Connie Bausell will be chairwoman of the committee. Our ongoing Focus on Giving is looking forward to helping our community! Please join the women in this effort. At the present time, we are collecting soup and peanut butter to donate to Feed My Sheep. We will collect this during the next several weeks. A Happy New Year to all! Sunday, December 16: Quarterly fellowship dinner following worship. Hostesses are Sandy Dailey and Judy Osborne, co-chairs, along with Jackie Helms, Diana Holland, Janie Owens, Sheilah Powers, Shonna Powers and Doris Lee Stiltner. The Presbyterian Women will have their annual Christmas Brunch and ornament exchange in December. The date and time will be announced later. On that day, shut-in baskets will be prepared. We have 8 on the list. If you know of someone, please check with Connie Bausell to be sure they have been included. hos com 2

About The Presbyterian Women
About Us

The Presbyterian Women of Buchanan First lead a very active and consistent life.  From a weekly Bible study circle to a monthly scheduled “Focus on Giving”, members of our ladies’ group can be found in and around our church.  During the summer, we welcome our interns into our class, as well as, our private homes.  We have four hostess committees and cover a quarterly fellowship dinner plus providing food for our members and friends during illnesses and bereavement.  We are always available for a quick comfort meal in our “Ruth and Mabel Ministry”.  Two of our ladies were well-known for providing food, i.e. soup and bread, for anyone in need.  In honor them, we try to follow their excellent examples.  Our focus on giving covers the local human society, the domestic violence shelter, school supplies, children’s hospital gifts bags, “The Connection” (a local group for disadvantaged youth), the local food bank and art or bingo supplies for the local Heritage Hall nursing facility.  We also provide gifts baskets at Christian for the shut-in members.  We sponsor the Hanging of the Greens at Christmas.  Household and baby showers are offered and given when appropriate.  Basically, if you want help, we will do the best we can to supply and provide it.

Our PW has many members who have served on Abingdon Presbytery committees.  Our church hosted the Spring Gathering of the PW in April 2017.  We have PW members who are in charge of our church’s website and Facebook pages.  All the women of the church are given opportunities to join in the activities and to be part of the group.  From a cheerfully decorated Fellowship Hall, to well maintained classrooms, anyone can see the Buchanan First PW’s handiwork present.  Hospitality is one of our utmost goals.  Praying for those in need and studying God’s word is a top priority for our PW.
